Closed EifelBahnSteig - 21st stage: From Bitburg-Erdorf to Hüttingen
erdorf
Please note: At present, the Eifelbahn platform 21 is only partially accessible. The Tanzlay (Hüttingen) is closed. The Eifelbahn line is also not passable.
This short but varied stage remains quite close to the Kyll almost throughout. Since there are only a few ascents to overcome, it can be hiked in a relaxed manner in a few hours.
We first climb a bit from Erdorf before hiking southwards through open countryside and then returning to the Kyll valley. Shortly after we meet the Kylltal cycle path, we descend to the Kyll, cross it on a beautiful wooden bridge and remain in a particularly lovely floodplain landscape for a short time. Before the hamlet of Albach, we leave the valley and climb up along the Albach through the forest until we come out into the open and look down on the gently undulating landscape around Bitburg.
After we have hiked through this scenery with changing images for a while, we are in for another highlight: the picturesque rocks of the Tanzlay and the descent through the steep, narrow valley of the Diefenbach. Behind it, we quickly reach Hüttingen with its tiny railway station.
