EifelBahnSteig - 22nd stage: From Hüttingen to Philippsheim
erdorf
Due to the flood event in July 2021, the EifelBahnSig route is currently still limited in its trafficability.
The vastness of the Bitburg countryside defines the image of this stage, which also has a lot to offer in terms of variety. At the beginning, we get beautiful views as we hike upwards parallel to the Kyll River, then a romantic forest path leads through the small Wingertsberg nature reserve and finally into the open. Through open countryside we now head towards Gondorf to the east, but before this village we turn off to Dudeldorf, which has an impressive historic centre and also offers refreshment stops - ideal, because here we have made about half the distance.
After that, too, we hike mainly through open terrain: first to a hill behind Dudeldorf, from there down into the valley of the Aulbach. We follow this for a long time, with the path gradually moving upwards almost to the height of Speicher. Finally, a beautiful path leads down to Philippsheim.
The Kylltal panorama and the section of path at the beginning of the tour, the following wide views, especially in a southerly direction, and the entire final section from Aulbachtal are worthy of mention. Cultural-historical highlights are Dudeldorf with its monuments and the beautifully situated Comeshof with the Matthias Chapel.
