GPS tour: Bedatour - Once around the beer town Bitburg
Bitburg
The GPS bike tour runs partly along the Nims cycle path and along local and city paths, which you can find in the GPX track.
Enjoy the picturesque views over the beer town Bitburg and the Bitburger Gutland during the tour. The wide plateaus with deeply cut stream valleys offer dreamlike views at any time of the year. Several benches invite you to take a break and relax.
The path leads to the cemetery of honor "Kolmeshöhe" on the outskirts of Bitburg, a memorial for the fallen of the two world wars. It attracted worldwide interest on May 5, 1985, when U.S. President Ronald Reagan visited Bitburg with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl and laid a wreath at the cemetery's tower for the 2,000 fallen soldiers. This was seen as a gesture of reconciliation between the former wartime enemies.
At the end of the bike tour, a chilled Bitburger beer, freshly tapped in the gastronomy of Bitburg's city center, should not be missed.
