South Eifel round
Bitburg
On this challenging but varied tour you can experience many highlights of the southern Eifel. The tour leads along the Prüm and Nims cycle paths past the 700-year-old moated castle of Rittersdorf, the Bitburg reservoir in Biersdorf am See. Between Holsthum and Irrel you will encounter hop fields, where one of the most important ingredients for the taste of the famous Bitburger Premium Pils grows, the Bitburger seal hops. You cross picturesque Eifel villages and discover again and again beautiful farmhouses that have been restored with great attention to detail.Open plateaus with beautiful views of the Eifel landscapes are characteristic of this tour. The first section of the route is accompanied by the Prüm, a tributary of the Sauer. Sometimes the water shimmers through the beautiful forest landscape, sometimes you look down on the course of the river from above. From Irrel the Nims accompanies us and on the former railroad line sculptures made of Eifel sandstone decorate the Nimsradweg.
We recommend this tour as an e-bike tour (difficulty level: demanding/sporty).
Tip:
The fantastically located Bitburg reservoir in Biersdorf am See is considered a leisure oasis par excellence.
Welcome to the large beer garden and café terrace "Ferdis Bootshaus" directly on the lakeshore. Here you can unwind and enjoy the meadows, forests, the beautiful lake view - or perhaps just the enchanting tranquility - with a cool drink or hot snack.
