Lavender garden in Bitburg
Insider tip from Steffi Wagner
The lavender garden at the Römermauer is a real insider tip for me! It's right in the city centre, and yet it's a little world of its own.
To get here, turn next to the Jupiter Column in the main street through a small passage towards the Roman Wall. Now you reach the square, which is integrated into the archaeological circuit as a "Lapidarium" and where various stone monuments from the Roman era are exhibited.
Since the Lavender Garden is somewhat hidden and away from the pedestrian zone, only the occasional walker passes by here. Most of the time you have the place to yourself and can switch off undisturbed from everyday life.
In summer, I like to sit here and enjoy the wonderful scent of lavender and watch the bees buzzing around the blossoms and collecting nectar.
When the sun shines brightly from the sky, the lavender garden is transformed into a Mediterranean oasis in the middle of the Eifel.
