Museum Speicher
Insider tip from Biggi Thiebach
I have a special connection to the town of Speicher, where I spent many years of my life.
I was all the more pleased when the museum in Speicher was reopened about 2 years ago after extensive renovation work. Even during my first tour, I felt transported back to my own childhood.
The small and loving details with which this museum is furnished impress me very much. It is a journey back in time from the city of Speicher to my childhood.
I am particularly fascinated by the old "Tante Emma" shop, which was built true to the original. I can still see myself buying soda pop for a penny as a child.
You can marvel at historic looms, spinning wheels, the old classroom of yesteryear or grandpa's schnapps distillery.
But also everyday objects that were converted from war materials are exhibited vividly and with much love.
If you want to look back into the past of the Eifel or even into your own past, this museum is definitely worth a visit and for me it is my absolute insider tip.
